In 1934, Kansas State and Nebraska were both 4-0 in Big 6 play heading into the Nov. 29 season-finale at Nebraska. Already with four wins over Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa State and Kansas by a combined score of 70-7, the Wildcats scored a 19-7 win over Nebraska for the first championship in school history. It was Lynn Waldorf’s only year as coach of the Wildcats. It was before bowl games existed, so for its time it was an all-or-nothing game.

Jim Dickey had redshirted a double-figure number of seniors in 1981 in hopes that a more mature Wildcat team could find success in 1982. While K-State didn’t roll through that 1982 season, it did find itself at 5-4-1 entering the final game of the season against Colorado. Win, and the Independence Bowl would extend to the Wildcats a first-ever bowl invitation. Lose, and the season was over. K-State did win, 33-10, giving the Wildcats their first postseason game in the history of the school.

Let history write a new tale of the next story.

Cardiac Cats fail to convert in the red zone. It’s simple math. Touchdowns count for more points. The play of the game was the pass reception and fumble in the end zone by Banks. Had he scored at the point of the game it could have changed the momentum in favor of the Wildcats. Tigers 38 - Cats 12.

It’s now a one game season for the Wildcats. Win next weekend and the Cats are in. Bowl eligible and in the Big 12 Championship. Fail to win and the Cats stay home for the holidays.

Cats can make history or be history. It will be a daunting task for the Wildcats. To do it they will have to travel outside the friendly confines of Bill Snyder Family Stadium. And in the 80,000 plus Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Huskers stand in the way of accomplishing their task. It’s a game the Wildcats can win. They will need the support of the Wildcat Nation. Cats have only won two times in the last 50 years in Lincoln.

But this is not the Huskers of old. They can be beat. They have lost two games at home this year.

Wildcats play for pride.

I plan on making the trip and cheering on the Cats.

Cats fall to the Pseudo Sooners. Something like that or some kind of four legged horse looking creature. What the hell is a Sooner anyway? Oh! Yeah. It means Cheaters. According to Oklahoma history.

It’s the official, “I’m in a bad mood week.” Hopefully, Coach Snyder can get the Cats over the squawk hump and get bowl eligible.

Might have to mix up some Purple Passion.

Cats 20 - Tatonkas 6. Cats played will defensively but the third quarter offense was horrific. From my seat, I thought the zebras were one sided with the Tatankas. They missed holding call after holding call on the Tatonka offense in the third and fourth quarter. The Cats defensive line was all over the Tatonka offensive line.

But I agree with Snyder, this team did not play as well as the Texas A&M game.

If you read an article by Jason Whitlock in the Kansas City Star, he says the class of the North is the University at Lawrence. He says, they will win the North Division this year.

I say it is up in the air. And the Cats can take it.

Wildcat fans have not seen a Big 12 conference win like this since 2003. The Cats played like the Old Cats of the first Snyder Era. It was bitter sweet because last weekends meltdown to the Red Raiders. But thanks to the Red Raiders win over the Huskers this weekend. The Wildcats are in first place in the North Division. Special thanks to the Colorado Buffs for taking down that other university down the interstate. Cats can take the Buffs at home next week.

I think the score says it all. OUCH!

That one will leave a mark.

Wildcats win with special teams. The Clones stood stunned after a rare PTA block by the Wildcat. Yes, some people may call it winning ugly. But the Wildcats are getting better with every game. Next Up Texas Tech.

The Wildcats finally put all phases of the game together. Clock controlling offense, dominating defense and spectacular special teams. Brandon Banks ties an NCAA record with two kickoffs for a touchdown.

Good game before the opening Big 12 game in Kansas City.
